Hay analysis and ration calculation Coaching and evaluation

Feeding has a significant impact on the health and performance of our horses. Excesses and deficiencies should be avoided as far as possible.

The feeding offer

Heuanalyse

I would be happy to help you get a hay analysis from the farmer/stable owner or to take your own hay analysis and send it to LUFA NRW. If this is not possible, we can use average values in the further course of the process. Note: Your own hay analysis shows the exact supply level.

Mineralfuttercheck

Does the mineral feed cover your horse's needs or is there even an oversupply? With the help of the hay analysis, it is possible to calculate and search for a mineral feed that is tailored exactly to your horse. I will give you 1-2 suitable mineral feeds as a suggestion.

Ration calculation

We determine your horse's body condition score and look at the current ration. I'll be happy to help you weigh the feed and determine your horse's appetite limit. I'll then calculate whether the current ration covers your horse's needs and create a suitable and as cost-effective as possible feeding plan for you.

Why do I need a ration calculation?

The ration calculation is an informative tool for detecting or preventing feed-related illnesses and fluctuations in performance. First, the actual ration is calculated. The horse's maintenance requirements are then determined and related to the work performed (training) and compared with the ration. This optimally indicates nutrient deficiencies as well as nutrient surpluses.

Preventing deficiencies in the ration is understandable for every horse owner. It is known that nutritional deficiencies can lead to various physical and psychological problems. But more is not better! An excess of protein can lead to kidney problems and even bouts of laminitis. Excess energy makes our horses fat.

Why do I need a hay analysis?

Since roughage is the basic feed for our horses, a hay analysis is the first choice. The quality and nutrient content of the hay depends on numerous factors, such as weather, time of harvest, technology, plant stock, fertilization, location of the area, etc. This leads to large fluctuations and variations not only in different areas, but also on different farms. For this reason, it can be very helpful to have your own hay analysis carried out.

In many cases, a hay analysis can be obtained directly from the stable owner or the relevant farmer. If this is not the case, you can take your own mixed sample and send it to LUFA NRW. I would be happy to support you with this.
